Off the Ground was a four year project to promote food growing in the Lancaster District. A new community allotment site was established on the Ridge Estate of Lancaster and we also provided support to residents, schools and community groups to develop their own food growing initiatives.

The project ran from April 2010 to December 2013 and delivered three main outcomes:

  • Establish a community allotment site on the Ridge Estate in Lancaster
  • Work with a minimum of 18 schools and community organisations across the
  • Lancaster district to support them to develop their own food growing initiatives
  • Support at least 30 households in the Ridge area to grow food in their own gardens.

A detailed evaluation report for the project can be downloaded here.

Off The Ground was supported financial by: the Big Lottery Local Food Programme, Lancaster District Local Strategic Partnership, Lancashire County Council and Awards for All.
