The LESS Is More Game ran during February 2104, and explored how we can use ‘gamification’ to promote sustainable living.
LESS secured funding in 2013 from Lancaster University’s Catalyst Project to test the feasibility of creating a digital game that promotes sustainable living.
It aimed to increase awareness of how consumption choices impact on the global environment, working conditions, the local economy, health and well-being, and then to encourage us to change our behaviour. Through promoting, recognizing and rewarding sustainable choices we hoped to make it easier and more desirable to act sustainably, perhaps by doing something differently, not buying something, or making a more environmentally sound or ethical choice. In particular we wanted to target people not already switched on to the sustainable message and young people.
