LESS UK - Local and Effective Sustainable Solutions

Helping the people of lancaster and Morecambe reduce their impact on the environment

Climate Change and Energy Advice Centre

Welcome to the Lancaster District Climate Change Advice Centre, run by LESS

We are here to help you reduce your contribution to climate change.

On average, each person in the UK is responsible for about 12.5 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year - mostly carbon dioxide.  About half these emissions come from direct energy use - in the home and travelling from A to B.  The other half come from industry, offices, public services, and the movement of goods.  The biggest contributor to these 'indirect' emissions is food.

The only way to prevent climate change is to greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  But fortunately individuals can do something about all the biggest causes of emissions.  So together we can make a difference!

This website provides advice on

-         Saving energy at home

-         Food and climate change

-         Understanding climate change

-         Your carbon footprint
